Is Jesus Your Mediator?

1Timothy 2:5 says,

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus.” (New World Translation – NWT)

 

 

The Watchtower’s Insight book volume 2 page 360 defines Mediator this way,

“One who interposes between two parties at variance to reconcile them; an intercessor; an intermediary agent, or go-between.”

As a Jehovah’s Witness (JW) I always believed that Jesus was my Mediator, especially when I look at a definition like the one above. After all, when we pray in Jesus’ name, is that not recognizing Jesus as the Mediator or “go between” or perhaps “intercessor” between us and the Father? If you were to ask the average JW publisher the question, “Is Jesus your Mediator?” I feel very confident that the vast majority would emphatically say, YES! Even when I was serving as a ministerial servant (deacon), I was sure that Jesus was my Mediator. It was after I gave my first public talk (sermon) and said the closing prayer for the meeting that something was brought to my attention.  I closed the prayer with these words,
